Shelter

In Bangladesh, in the Kutupalong camp, there are almost a million people trying to survive in an area that has been stripped of all its natural resources. It was only a year ago that some parts of the Kutupalong camp were a national forest reserve. As refugees started arriving with only the belongings that they could carry, they began cutting down the trees for fuel and shelter. Now there is nothing left but loose soil. Due to this sudden deforestation, the impending monsoon season puts the refugees, who are currently living in plastic tents, in an extremely dangerous and vulnerable position.

RCF raised just under £10,000 for a project in which funds were used to design and build 22 sturdy bamboo shelters. Each shelter can house a family of six and has two quarters. One section will be used for cooking and each family has been supplied with a gas cooker. The second section is used as a living room during the day and at night used as a bedroom.

Become a Volunteer Today

RCF have organised multiple fundraising events for all volunteers to get involved in. Funds raised will be used to fund the dental project, medical equipment and go towards essential welfare items including food, shelter and water sanitisation.

If you are unable to join the team in Bangladesh but still want to help in any capacity you can join the team in our fundraising events. If you would like to arrange your own fundraising event, please get in touch with the team on info@refugeecrisisfoundation.com.
