The RCF Dental Clinic

A summary

RCF started its journey to provide emergency dental care in 2015 in the “Jungle” camp in Calais, where approximately 10,000 refugees stayed. RCF operated a mobile dental clinic from within the camp that provided emergency dental treatment to over a thousand patients throughout its operation.

Since 2018, RCF have been collaborating with OBAT Helpers Inc and Prantic Unnayan Society to run the only emergency dental clinic for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. The service is essential as the burden of disease is very high in the refugee population due to the limited access to oral health care services in refugee camps.

Initially the dental clinic was staffed by UK volunteer dentists that would travel in delegations to deliver care. The clinic now has two local full time dentists providing services 6 days a week. The clinic is now mainly run by the local Bangladeshi dentists and local volunteers from the actual camp. The feedback from the refugees has been very positive. The dental team has all the facilities to provide emergency dental treatment which included: extractions, fillings, relief of acute pain and emergency drug prescriptions.

Become a Volunteer Today

RCF have organised multiple fundraising events for all volunteers to get involved in. Funds raised will be used to fund the dental project, medical equipment and go towards essential welfare items including food, shelter and water sanitisation.

If you are unable to join the team in Bangladesh but still want to help in any capacity you can join the team in our fundraising events. If you would like to arrange your own fundraising event, please get in touch with the team on info@refugeecrisisfoundation.com. We have suggested some fundraising ideas in the fundraise section.
